TBILISI, DFWatch–The Georgian parliament Saturday passed a vote of confidence in a new cabinet government formed after Georgian Dream won a landslide in the October 8 election.
110 MPs voted for and 19 against a cabinet, which had only three personnel changescompared to the previous government, when GD shared cabinet positions with a coalition by the same name.
There were also six abstentions among the 123 who were registered as present during the vote, out of a 150 seat assembly.
Parliament also voted in favor of the government’s program for the next four years, titled ‘Freedom, Rapid Development and Welfare’.
In the days leading up to the vote of confidence, candidates for ministerial positions have been through committee hearings and debates in parliament.

The new cabinet will not have a minister for diaspora issues, after that ministry was merged with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
