Support our independent journalism

“Independent media in Georgia cannot survive through self-funding—it’s simply not possible,” one donor-funded outlet recently claimed.

Not true. That’s part of a big lie aimed at preserving an unhealthy money flow.

European and American taxpayers already bankroll these apparent “news” portals. Meanwhile, the countries they cover suffer from reporting distorted by donor dependency. Their work resembles journalism in form but lacks true independence.

International media often rely on them without fact-checking, which explains why policymakers in Europe and the U.S. so often misunderstand what is really happening in the Caucasus.

We believe there is another way: Just say no to donor funding. Run your newsroom independently. That’s what we do.

Why this matters

Recently, a government-friendly TV channel reported that a German diplomat appeared to have close ties to a radical Georgian opposition party calling for regime change. For several days, donor-funded outlets stayed silent. They were afraid to embarrass their benefactors.

We were not. We reported it. We have no donors and no reason to protect diplomats, embassies, or business elites.

What we do

We follow the story wherever it leads. Whether it points at governments, diplomats, donors, or powerful business interests. And we will continue to bring the most relevant stories from Georgia and the region to a global audience.
