TBILISI, September 23 – An 85-year-old woman has been killed in her home in eastern Georgia, with local residents reporting that an intruder may have demanded money before setting the house on fire.
The woman lived alone near a ravine on the outskirts of Almat, a village in the Kvareli municipality, according to residents cited by Interpressnews on Wednesday.
One account suggests that an attacker entered the house late at night and demanded money. Another version of events is that the intruder failed to find any money, killed the woman and then set fire to the property. Neither account has been established by investigators, according to the news agency.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal investigation for intentional murder.
