Three women hospitalized after knife attack

TBILISI, June 11 – Police in western Georgia have detained a man accused of stabbing three women, including his wife and mother, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said Thursday.

According to the ministry, the man attacked his wife, his mother and a female friend of his wife with a knife, causing several wounds to all three, Interpressnews reported.

The three injured women were taken to a clinic for medical treatment.

Police said the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack. The ministry also said he had a previous conviction and was currently serving a conditional sentence.

The man was detained by officers of the Imereti Police Department, and may face up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment if convicted, according to the ministry.
