TBILISI, June 11 – Police in Rustavi have detained one person after a man died during a confrontation in the city, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said Thursday.
The case is being investigated as intentional serious injury resulting in death.
According to the ministry, the accused physically assaulted the man during a confrontation. The man then fell, suffered a head injury and died at the scene.
Police detained the suspect “on hot pursuit” after investigative actions, the ministry said.
Investigators are also working to identify other people who may have taken part in the fight.
The criminal violation referenced by investigators may be punished with up to eight years in prison.
