Georgian president talks peace and stability with Vucic in Belgrade

TBILISI, December 18 – Georgia’s President Mikheil Kavelashvili met Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade on Thursday. The two sides talked about closer cooperation and prepared for upcoming talks on trade and economy.

Kavelashvili’s press service said the leaders discussed deepening ties in political, economic, technological and cultural areas during a one-on-one meeting at the presidential palace.

The talks also touched on political processes in both countries and the importance of peace and stability globally.

According to the Georgian side, Kavelashvili told Vucic that Serbia’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is valuable for Tbilisi.

He also invited Vucic to visit Georgia.

The Georgian delegation in Belgrade included Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili, several members of parliament, Georgia’s ambassador to Serbia Levan Beridze, and representatives of the presidential administration, the statement said.

Kavelashvili was also scheduled to meet Serbia’s prime minister Djuro Matucis and parliament speaker Ana Brnabic, according to the same source.

Kavelashvili said he views the attitude of EU “Eurobureaucracy” leaders toward Georgia as unfair, while also calling dialogue with the EU important and saying Georgia is always ready for it.
