TBILISI, DFWatch–The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) met again on June 11 in Ergneti to discuss issues along the administrative border line.

Participants reviewed recent incidents, including restrictions on movement, illegal detentions, and so-called “borderization” by Russian-backed forces.

Georgia’s state security demanded accountability for the killing of Georgian citizen Tamaz Ginturi and pressed for the immediate release of detainees. Apart from that, talks also dealt with recurring problems with irrigation and local infrastructure.

This was the 125th such meeting as part of the Geneva talks, which brings together the warring parties in the 2008 South Ossetia War, jointly hosted by the OSCE and the EU.

Co-facilitators Bettina Boughani, EUMM head, and OSCE envoy Christoph Späti urged full reopening of all boundary crossing points to restore access for local communities and ease their going about their daily lives. The next IPRM session is scheduled for July 21.
