TBILISI, July 5 – A fire broke out near the Tbilisi Sea settlement on Sunday evening, but was quickly put out, Georgia’s Emergency Management Service told Interpressnews.
The fire was reported in the area near Tbilisi Sea, a large reservoir and recreation zone on the eastern side of the Georgian capital. According to the emergency service, the flames spread through dry grass.
The agency said the fire was “liquidated” shortly after it started, meaning it had been fully extinguished and no longer posed an active threat.
The dry summer season brings with it heightened risk of vegetation catching fire around open areas near Tbilisi. A hillside fire broke out north of the capital in August, 2025.
