TBILISI, May 20 – A young man was killed in western Georgia’s Guria region after an argument turned deadly, police said Wednesday.
The killing happened in the village of Kokhnari, in Chokhatauri municipality.
According to Interpressnews, the victim was a man under the age of 35. Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said police in Guria detained one person on suspicion of intentional murder.
Investigators say the suspect wounded the victim with a cold weapon during a verbal dispute and then fled the scene.
The young man died on the spot from his injuries.
Police said the suspect was detained shortly after the incident as a result of operational and investigative measures.
The investigation is being conducted under an article of Georgia’s Criminal Code which may lead to up to 15 years in prison.
