Dog shelter flooded in Tbilisi

Tbilisi, DFWatch – At least 13 dogs drowned in flood on Wednesday night  in Tbilisi at Tamaz Elizbarashvili’s dog shelter.

A heavy rain flooded river Vere and the water flushed the shelter’s ground floor.

Patrol police crew and several employees came at the shelter at night to help the pets, but some of the dogs had already been swept away.

Public defender drafts law to have courts decide early marriage

TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgia’s public defender recommends amending the Civil Code so that only the courts may give permission for 16 to 18 year olds to marry.

The public defender has prepared a draft bill which was submitted to parliament on May 25.
