TBILISI, DFWatch–Snow and ice has made several roads unsafe for large vehicles. Here is the list of traffic restrictions published by the Road Department.
On a section of the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze road stretching from the 138 km mark to the 157 km mark, (Chumateleti-Khunevi), driving is prohibited for trailers and semi-trailers. Other vehicles are allowed to pass through.
Due to snow, wind and frost, a section of the Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi road near the border with Azerbaijan, driving is prohibited for trailers and semi-trailers from the 20 km mark to the 160 km mark, but not for other type of vehicles.
From 1 km to 58 km along the Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi road in eastern Georgia (Verona-Shuamta), driving is only allowed with snow chains.
Restrictions also apply on the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road, along the Mleta-Dariali section. Trailers, semi-trailers and vehicles with more than 30 seats are only allowed to drive by using snow chains.
All vehicles are advised to use snow chains on the Gudauri-Kobi road. Traffic is unrestricted from Kobi to Larsi on the border with Russia, but it is not allowed to stop between Gudauri and Kobi and drivers must use the anti-avalanche tunnels. On the same road it is not allowed to stop from the 134 km mark to the 145 km mark in Dariali Valley.
From the 36 km mark to the 72 km mark on the Kutaisi-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri road driving is prohibited for trailers, semi-trailers and vehicles with more than 30 seats. The same type of vehicles are prohibited drom driving from the 147 km mark to the 188 km mark on the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili road in Svaneti.
