TBILISI, DFWatch – The U.S. Department of Defense has brought 28 mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles (MRAP) to Georgia to train Georgian troops.

The U.S. embassy in Tbilisi released a statement saying that the vehicles will be transfered from the port of Poti to the National Training Centre Krtsanisi by rail.

The vehicles are designed to protect military personnel from armor-piercing roadside bombs. They are brought here as part of U.S. training of Georgian soldiers to prepare them for service in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
