Two Georgians detained in border area

by | Jun 11, 2013

TBILISI, DFWatch–Russian border guards detained a father and son in a village close to the de facto border with breakaway South Ossetia.

Zviand and Vakhtang Zghentis were bringing cattle out to graze when they were detained and taken to Tskhinvali.

Later the same day, Vakhtang Zghenti, 15, was released. Locals say there are no border buildings at the village Avlevi, in the Kareli region, which makes it difficult to find out where the border is between Georgian- and Russian-controlled territory.

Rostom Sosiashvili, who was detained weeks ago, remains in detention. So does Temur Gigauri from Sobisi.
