TBILISI, DFWatch — Georgia’s Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili is invited to a Russian breakfast on Friday at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

But Ivanishvili insists that Russian officials won’t attend and that he will only be meeting with Russian businessmen.

The PM said he knows there the Prime Minister of Russia was not on the list of guests, even though he is in Davos.

“The business elite will be there. I am interested in investments and there will be many familiar people there. I think I will go there and if anything happens, you will know.”

The PM said no meetings are planned with Russia’s top officials.

“I don’t know if I will meet accidentally with Dmitry Medvedev somewhere, but we haven’t planned anything,” he added.

Wednesday, he had already met with his Turkish colleague to discuss relations between the two countries and ways to deepen relations.

In his address at the annual meeting, Ivanishvili thanked organizers and spoke about the advantages of the energy sector, potential for economic growth and the challenges of inter-regional integration.

The PM underlined that Georgia is involved in important projects related to Central Asian countries. The goal of those projects is to connect western and eastern markets, but also to develop communications, trade, transport and technology. In addition, there are pipelines running through Georgia, which play an important role in Europe’s energy security.

The Prime Minister spoke about a new initiative to have meetings on the level of government commissions more regularly, as a way to exchange information and harmonize procedures.
