TBILISI, March 5 – A Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by Nikoloz Samkharadze, continues its diplomatic mission in Washington, D.C., engaging with key U.S. lawmakers.

On Wednesday, Samkharadze met with Congressman Robert Aderholt, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the U.S. delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

According to Interpressnews, discussions focused on enhancing U.S.-Georgia relations, with particular attention to Georgia’s strategic role as a transit hub.

Aderholt expressed interest in the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, and both parties agreed to collaborate on child protection issues.

Samkharadze, who chairs the European Integration Committee, also met with Andrew Baker, Deputy Secretary of the U.S. National Security Council. The discussions were described as “quite interesting,” with a focus on mending U.S.-Georgia relations.

Both sides exchanged views on key issues that could drive the restoration of their strategic partnership. The dialogue also touched on security challenges, including the impact of ongoing events in Iran on Georgia and the broader South Caucasus region.

The delegation of Georgian lawmakers also met with Anatol Lieven, Director of the Quincy Institute, to discuss the U.S. administration’s foreign policy, particularly concerning the South Caucasus. The discussions touched on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and its implications for U.S. policy.

The delegation highlighted Georgia’s security challenges, including external interference, and explored the development prospects of the Middle Corridor, a key transit route that links China and Europe via the Caucasus, bypassing Russian Federation territory.
