TBILISI, DFWatch–The Republican Party in Georgia announced on Tuesday at its members of the government are resigning.
The ministers who will be leaving their posts shortly are Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli and Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Paata Zakareishvili.
Khidasheli and Zakareishvili will notify the prime minister about their decision to resign in a few days.
The Republican Party’s third member of government, the minister for environmental protection, will stay on, but leave the party, Speaker of Parliament and party leader Daviti Usupashvili said on Tuesday.
The Republican Party said on March 27 that they would resign from the cabinet before the election scheduled for October 8. At the time, August was named as a likely time for that to happen.
Today, Usupashvili announced the start of the party’s election campaign, which he will lead, as their number one on the party list, and the party will also bear his name and be known as “Usupashvili – the Republicans” in this election.
