TBILISI, March 5 – Prosecutors in Georgia have charged two individuals for obstructing journalists in their professional duties.

The charges, filed today, stem from an incident on September 8, when one of the suspected individuals allegedly seized a journalist’s phone. On the same day, another “Publika” journalist, Aleksandre Keshelashvili, faced interference from an unidentified individual who also took his phone, which was later returned.

The charges deal with unlawful interference with journalistic activities, carrying penalties ranging from fines to up to two years of house arrest. Neither of the accused has been detained.
