TBILISI, September 19 – Georgian police have arrested a Turkish citizen wanted by Interpol on fraud charges, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced Saturday.
The suspect was detained in Batumi, a city on Georgia’s Black Sea coast, following investigative work by officers from the Adjara regional division of the Central Criminal Police Department.
According to the ministry, the Turkish national was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice issued at the request of Turkish law enforcement authorities in connection with fraud allegations.
Extradition proceedings are now underway under Georgian law, the ministry said.
