TBILISI, DFWatch–The crown prince of Saudi Arabia is donating USD 300,000 to assist the victims of the June 14 flood in Tbilisi.
Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who visited Georgia a few weeks ago, wrote in a letter to the prime minister that they carefully observe events surrounding the disaster, expressing concern about what happened and condolences to the Georgian people.
“Mr prime minister, we pray for you and your people,” the letter says.
According to the foreign ministry, the Georgian ambassador to Saudi Arabia on June 16 met with the prince and informed him about the flood disaster. the prince offered to help and has regularly showed interest in how the clean-up work is going.
The flood killed 19 people. Three are still missing. It destroyed tens of houses, as well as a central road that was built a few years ago, a part of the zoo and one of the biggest dog shelters in Eastern Europe.
During his visit to Georgia, Abdulaziz Al Saud expressed interest in investing in Georgia.
