TBILISI, DFWatch–Police in Georgia have detained three Iraqi citizens who are suspected of rape of a minor in Tbilisi.
They are suspected of attempting to rape a fifteen year old boy on Tuesday at an apartment on Zandukeli Street in the center of the capital, but he managed to get away.
Police detained an Iraqi citizen born in 1993 suspected of rape. According to the Interior Ministry, the investigation found that the detainee asked the boy to come to his apartment on Zandukeli Street and then raped him, after which the boy escaped.
The suspect was detained a few hours later in Tbilisi.
Several hours later, police detained two more suspects, also Iraqi citizens, accused of the same.
Interpressnews quotes locals from the house where the incident took place, who say that they heard a noise at eight o’clock in the morning, went out of the door and saw a boy half naked wrapped in a towel and asking for help.
“Soon the foreigner of unknown origin came and asked to take the boy away with him, but we didn’t let him,” they said. Another foreigner brought his clothes.
The boy told them that he managed to escape from the foreigners. He also said that he lives in an orphanage in Gldani, a suburb of Tbilisi, and followed the foreigners to their house because they promised him cigarettes and food.
Police are conducting an investigation into what happened.
