
TBILISI, October 5 – Georgian police have arrested a previously convicted man on suspicion of murdering a 35-year-old man in Gardabani municipality, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said Monday.
The killing took place in the village of Nazarlo. Initial reports late Sunday cited by Interpressnews said the victim had suffered a knife wound and died at the scene.
According to the ministry, the two men became involved in an argument, during which the suspect allegedly attacked the younger man with a bladed weapon.
The victim died from his injuries at the scene.
Officers from the Kvemo Kartli regional police and the Patrol Police, Georgia’s national uniformed traffic police, arrested the suspect following operational and investigative measures, the ministry said.
The Interior Ministry described the arrested man as having a previous criminal conviction but provided no further details about his identity or criminal record.
Video circulated on social media after the killing showed police deployed at the scene.
The case is being investigated as intentional homicide, an offense that carries a possible prison sentence of up to 15 years.
