TBILISI, July 28 – Georgian police have arrested a man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in the western region of Guria, Rezonansi reported Tuesday.
The suspect is the husband of the girl’s aunt, according to the report.
Local residents told TV Pirveli that the alleged assault happened on Monday, while the man was visiting the girl’s home.
Police arrested him later that day after the girl’s mother contacted law enforcement.
Prosecutors formally charged the man on Tuesday. A court was expected to consider whether to place him in pre-trial detention later the same day.
