TBILISI, DFWatch–The city assembly in Kutaisi, Georgia’s second largest city, has dismissed its mayor by 14 votes against five.

Besik Bregadze, former Kutaisi mayor, said that he now has an opportunity to rest, but still doesn’t know if he will remain in politics in the future.

The same day on Friday a commission was set up in the assembly, which will work to select a candidate for new mayor of the city, which will probably be confirmed by the end of month.

Few days ago several members of the UNM faction left the faction and together with members of Georgian Dream faction raised issue to impeach Kutaisi mayor.

The session of the assembly was pretty noisy, local journalists reported, as members of the UNM turned anthem of the Soviet Union.

In the beginning of April the National Movement lost majority of seats in Kutaisi Assembly. Five of its members left the UNM faction.
