TBILISI, DFWatch–Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili on Saturday warned people who uploaded a sex video of an opposition politician to the Internet that they will be harshly punished.
In a statement issued on Saturday the PM explains that this will be an example for other people never to think about copying the crime.
“I will fight till the end for this type of crime to never be committed against anyone,” he writes, adding that he has ordered law enforcement bodies to rapidly investigate the case.
“This is a test for the investigative bodies which they will have to pass.”
He informed that the government is ready to allow any organization to get involved in the investigation if they are able to help.
“I give my word, I will do my best so that this horrible footage will disappear from our lives forever.”
He saw the case as an attempt to blackmail the entire society and an attack on the state.
A video was Friday evening uploaded to Youtube and sent to journalists through e-mails. Some of the media outlets reported the name of the politician in the footage. The video was removed from the Internet after a while, and the Youtube website was reportedly unreachable for some time to Georgian users.
The Prosecutor General’s Office launched an investigation for illegally spreading material depicting the private life of a person.
