TBILISI, January 16 – Georgia’s apple exports have jumped sharply this season, with Russia absorbing the overwhelming majority of the fruit, according to new government data.
From August 1, 2025 to January 13, 2026, Georgia exported 10,000 tons of apples worth USD 7.3 million, figures released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture show.
That marks a strong year-on-year rise. Compared to the same period last season, export volumes grew by 28 percent, or 2,200 tons, while export value climbed 47 percent, equal to an extra USD 2.3 million.
Russia remains by far the biggest buyer. Of the total exported volume, 9,197 tons, about 92 percent, were shipped to the Russian market.
Turkey ranked a distant second with 540 tons, followed by Belarus with 150 tons, Armenia with 83 tons, and Iraq with 21 tons.
Prices have also moved higher. The ministry said the average export price stood at USD 0.73 per kilogram during the period, up 15 percent from a year earlier.
Exports of agricultural products to the Russian market were reopened in 2013 after Georgian Dream engaged in talks with Moscow about lifting a trade embargo.
