TBILISI, DFWatch–Secretary of Georgia’s National Security Council, Giga Bokeria, has resigned a few days before the inauguration of the new president.

Bokeria’s letter of resignation is dated November 15 and addressed to the president’s administration, which says Saakashvili will approve the resignation by the end of the day.

All four of his deputies plan to resign as well, but only after they transfer all documents and information to the new secretary, who will be Irina Imerlishvili, a member of parliament from the Georgian Dream coalition.

Giga Bokeria used to hold this post from November 2010.

The president’s spokesperson Manana Majgaladze also resigned and today held her last briefing, during which she said that the governors of all Georgian-controlled regions also sent the administration letters of resignation, which will also be granted by the end of the day.

“I am proud that I was with one of the most exceptional political leader of Georgia, who moved the country to completely different givens,” Manjgaladze, a former television journalist, said.

She also said that she thinks time will create a place for him in history and it is naïve to think that ‘Misha’ (Mikheil Saakashvili) has ended his career. She wished good luck to her successor.
