
TBILISI, April 17 – Georgian judoka Eter Liparteliani won the European title in the women’s 57-kilogram division on Friday at the European Judo Championships in Tbilisi.
On Friday, Liparteliani reached the final of the 57 kg category and defeated Israel’s Timna Nelson Levy to take the title, according to Interpressnews.
Liparteliani beat Nelson Levy by ippon, the cleanest and most emphatic scoring result in judo, to become European champion.
Georgia now has two gold medals and one silver in the home championships. Lasha Shavdatuashvili won gold in the men’s 73 kg division on Friday, while Giorgi Sardalashvili earlier claimed silver in the men’s 60 kg event the day before.
The championships are being held in the Georgian capital from April 16 to April 19, 2026.
