TBILISI, DFWatch–An exit poll conducted by Rustavi 2 indicates that a second round might be necessary in Tbilisi.
If the exit poll is correct, the candidate for the ruling Georgian Dream coalition will get 46.3 percent of votes, UNM candidate gets 27 percent
of votes, while Nino Burjanadze’s coalition candidate gets 10.4 percent.
But in another exit poll, published by Imedi TV, the coalition candidate is barely past the threshold to avoid a second round and gets 50.6 percent, 24 percent voted for UNM, 9 and percent for Burjanadze’s coalition.
The Rustavi 2 poll was carried out by GFK, and has a margin of error is about three percent. This is the same company that conducted Rustavi 2’s exit poll for the presidential election in October 2013.
Imedi’s exit poll was conducted by Act Group, also using the same polling company as last year.
The exit poll done last year by GFK showed that Giorgi Margvelshvili would receive 66.7 percent of votes, and Davit Bakradze would receive 20.2 percent, while Act Group said Margvelashvili would receive more than 68 percent of votes and 17.1 percent of votes for Bakradze.
In the actual election, Georgian Dream’s Margvelashvili received 62.12 percent of votes, UNM’s Bakradze 21.73 percent.
Rustavi 2’s exit poll also showed that Georgian Dream candidates for mayor are leading in 6 cities. According to the GFK poll, Georgian Dream is also leading in the vote for members of the Tbilisi City Council election and will get 47.8 percent. UNM will get 26.1 percent, and Nino Burjanadze’s coalition 8.3 percent.
According to Imedi’s poll, Georgian Dream gets 50.6 percent of votes for Tbilisi City Council election, UNM 24.0 percent, and Burjanadze’s coalition 9.0 percent.
