TBILISI, DFWatch–European Initiative – Liberal Academy Tbilisi presented a new web service about the evolution of EU-Georgia relations.

The goal of the project “Who is Who in Brussels on Georgia and the South Caucasus” is to offer a mapping of major interlocutors dealing with Georgia and the region in the EU capital.

“The information is too big and it was impossible to make a printed version, so the information is available only online, besides, we update it too often,” said Ekaterine Mrulishvili, analyst at EI-LAT.

Archil Karaulashvili, head of the EU integration service, Office of the State Minister in Georgia, thinks that the project is useful for Georgia, because it is a country that has comprehensive relations with the EU and its member states.

The second part of the presentation was dedicated to a discussion about the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) that is announced to be one of the integral parts of the Association Agreement with the EU.

Unlike other trade agreements, DCFTA includes services trade liberalization too (transport, financial services, etc) and requests the harmonization of Georgian legislation with that of the EU.

Tea Akhvlediani, director of Department of European Integration, thinks that DCFTA will enter into force about 2014.
