TBILISI, DFWatch–There were 14.1 percent more visitors to Georgia in October, compared to last year, according to the Interior Ministry’s monthly report.
The number of visitors in October was 480 510. In the entire first ten months of this year, there were 4 556 110 visitors; 23.7 percent more than in the same period of 2012. The number of visitors in the first ten months of 2013 is already more than the total number of visitors in 2012.
Further reviewing recent figures, the Interior Ministry points out that the number of tourists in the first ten months of 2012 was 1 785 244, which is 39.2 percent of the total number and 17.4 percent more than last year.
The number of transit visitors was 1 001 010 – 22 percent of the total number and 57.3 percent more than last year.
The number of visitors with other purposes was 1 769 856 – 38.8 percent of the total number of visitors and 15.8 percent more than the period January-October last year.
The highest number of visitors in October 2013 came from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine and Iran. There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors from Poland (70 percent more), Czech Republic (34 percent), Austria (27 percent) and France (20), Italy (17 percent), Germany (17 percent).
