TBILISI, July 26 – Thirteen people were injured Sunday when a passenger bus ran off the road in Zestaponi, in the central Imereti region of Georgia.
The accident happened at Argveta, just west of the city limits.
All those injured were brought to two clinics in Zestaponi, Peromed and Geo Hospitals, Interpressnews reported.
The news agency interviewed staff at Peromed, which is treating six of the passengers, and reports that those injured are tourists, of which five of the patients at the clinic are from Ukraine.
Dr Tamar Makhatadze is quoted saying that one young man underwent an operation to amputate his right arm.
Among other injuries, a young man and woman have spinal fractures, while one other woman has a fracture of the humerus bone, according to Makhatadze, Interpressnews reported.
The cause of the accident is yet unknown.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened an investigation for violation of traffic safety rules.
