TBILISI, DFWatch–Seven people were Saturday fined 100 lari (USD 60) each for hooliganism after being detained the day before in a violent disturbance outside Tbilisi City Court.

The violence happened after the court had decided to place former Mayor Gigi Ugulava in pre-trial detention in an embezzlement case.

The seven who were fined are Kote Gabashvili, Davit Gogokhia, Lasha Chighladze, Irakli Chkhvirkia, Alexandre Bedoidze, Khvicha Sukhishvili and Lasha Rukhaia.

Three judges reviewed their cases on Saturday.

MP Levan Bezhashvili from UNM was also detained on Friday, but released the same day. He said the policemen who detained him didn’t know he was a member of parliament and they had to release him because they didn’t have a right to detain an MP.
