TBILISI, DFWatch – A police employee threatened his cousin with a gun because he was a member of the opposition Georgian Dream coalition.

Georgian Dream representatives told DF Watch that the incident took place in the village Orulu near the town Zugdidi in the west of Georgia. Irakli Tsaava, an employee of the local police, was drunk and broke into the house of Emzar Tsaava, demanding that he stop cooperating with Georgian Dream.

Tsaava says there had never been any kind of confrontation between them before.

“He overturned the table, held a weapon and told me that it is not excluded that he would point that gun to my head. I managed to go outside and for two hours I was hiding in nut trees.”

Neighbors report about loud noises from their house and that some drunk man threatened Emzar Tsaava that day.

Emzar Tsaava reported the incident to law enforcement bodies yesterday night.

The Interior Ministry has made no comment.
