TBILISI, DFWatch–Former Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili plans a TV series about the nine years of National Movement rule.

In an interview with Imedi TV on Wednesday, Ivanishvili said the name of the series will be ‘9+1’, which indicates the nine years  former President Mikheil Saakashvili’s party was in government, plus the extra year when the party only had the president.

Ivanishvili said there will be about 200 episodes and they will be aired on GDS TV; a TV company created by his rapper son Bera. GDS is an entertainment channel with youth programs, music and movies.

Goga Khaindrava, a documentary filmmaker and a political activist, who was vocal during the street protests against Saakashvili in 2008-2011, on Thursday told Ambebi.ge he was asked by Ivanishvili to make the series, but doesn’t know yet what type of film or series is envisioned.

Work on the film will start in February, he said.

“My profession is filmmaking. I know this work very well and I don’t think it will be difficult for me to make it,” he said, adding that he is also ‘well familiar’ with the topic and has his own ideas about it.

Khaindrava said that if he is chosen to direct the series it will be a feature film made from documentary material.
