TBILISI, DFWatch–A man died of swine flu in Georgia on Thursday. He became the fourth victim of the disease in the last ten days.

The middle aged man was suffering from a chronic lung disease. He was infected with the H3N2 virus, while the previous three victims had the H1N1.

Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center of the Disease Control, said Friday that the number of H1N1 cases per 100,000 has increased by 20-25 and is now 273, but since it is still below the 500 threshold, there is no danger of an epidemic.

According to Gamkrelidze, the number of cases has increased over the last few days, but it is not an situation.

He said that in all four cases, patients had an accompanying disease and received treatment too late, as they called the doctor on the 4th and 5th day.

According to the NCDC, there are 83 laboratory-confirmed cases in Georgia. 80 of them are the H1N1 virus, while three are H3N2.

Among the patients receiving treatment in hospital, 17 percent are in a serious condition.
