TBILISI, DFWatch–Four died, and 21 were reportedly injured when a minivan full of schoolchildren rolled into a ravine near Tbilisi Saturday.

One child and three adults were killed, the latter reportedly parents of schoolchildren.

21 people were injured, including 12 children. They were rushed to Telavi hospital in Kakheti, the Ministry of Health said.

The group of sixth graders and their parents were on their way to Kakheti when their minivan veered off the road on Gombori Pass.

The children are from Public School #175 in Tbilisi. Many schools in Tbilisi make trips to historic places near the capital the first weekend of June.

Preliminary findings indicate that the driver lost control of the steering wheel, according to a statement released by the police.

The driver survived the accident and was questioned by the police the same day. He faces up to 10 years in jail for violation of traffic safety rules, if convicted.
