TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgian Airways will offer direct flights between Tbilisi and the Olympic village Sochi from February 4, 2014, in connection with the upcoming Winter Games.

There will be flights between Tbilisi and Sochi every Tuesday and Thursday until May.

The flights will be carried out with Russia’s S7 Airlines, Russian media report. One way ticket price will be 159 euros, and the duration of the flight will be about one hour. The plane will depart from Tbilisi airport at 10:00 am and will return from Sochi at 12:00 pm.

Although air travel between Georgia and Russia was suspended after the war in 2008, charter flights were resumed in 2010 by companies from both states. After the parliamentary election in 2012, the new government started talks with Russia to resume regular flights.
