TBILISI, DFWatch–A 41-year old woman was killed by her husband in Kakheti on Sunday.
According to local media, a 41 year old man first shot his wife and later ran her over with his car. She died instantly.
Police detained the suspect at the crime scene. He is charged with premeditated murder and faces seven to fifteen year in prison.
The tragedy occurred in the small village Verkhviani, about 80 kilometers east of Tbilisi. The family was from the predominantly Azeri village Iormughanlo.
The couple had two grownup sons, one of them is married and another serves in the army.
Local media wrote that the motive for the murder was jealousy.
Domestic violence has been highlighted by Tbilisi-based organizations in recent months, and a campaign was recently launched to address the long-ignored problem.
