TBILISI, DFWatch – Today it is twenty years since Georgia and the U.S. established diplomatic relations.

Marking the occasion, the U.S. Embassy writes in a press release that since 1992, hundreds of Peace Corps volunteers have come to Georgia and over five thousand Georgian exchange students have gone to the U.S. We have seen Georgia grow from a newly independent state to a global contributor to security and a regional exporter of some of its most successful reforms, writes the embassy, which quotes Ambassador John Bass toasting the friendship between the two countries with a traditional Georgian toast.
