Turkish captain fined $20,000

TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgian Coast Guard has fined a captain of a cargo ship under the flag of the Comoros, a tiny state located in Comoro Archipelago, off the East African coast, 50,000 laris (USD 22,200).

According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior, the crew of BERRA G, port of registry Moroni, violated navigation safety rules and its captain, a Turkish national, was fined GEL 50,000.

“The ship was allowed to sail unrestricted after the captain had paid the imposed fine,” the MIA statement reads.
