TBILISI, DFWatch–Russian soldiers have detained three Georgian citizens in the village Khurvaleti for violating the border with South Ossetia.
All three detainees – Rusudan Khuroshvili, Zeinab Kharkheli and Lali Khuroshvili – were taken to South Ossetia.
Their family say they don’t know any details about the detention and their present location, but when people in Georgian villages are detained by Russian soldiers they are usually taken to a prison in Tskhinvali.
More than a week ago, Russians detained a Georgian TV crew. They spent the night at the Tskhinvali isolator and were released the next day.
Most people who are detained in villages bordering with occupied territories claim that they haven’t crossed the border.
They are often released as a result of regular talks within meetings of the EU-hosted Incidents Prevention and Response Mechanism, which are held in the village Ergneti.
