(Interpressnews.)

TBILISI, October 12 – Georgian prosecutors have charged three prisoners over separate alleged attacks on staff at a penitentiary facility earlier this month.

The Prosecutor’s Office said one incident took place on October 2 at Penitentiary No. 6, in Rustavi, when an inmate allegedly assaulted the prison’s deputy director after the official came to inspect his cell.

A second incident took place on October 4 at the same prison. Prosecutors said two inmates attacked a senior inspector while returning from an exercise area.

The prisoner charged with the October 2 attack is serving a sentence for an especially serious crime, and has also been accused of having attacked a prison employee in the past.

All three now face additional criminal charges for violence against prison staff. The charges can carry up to 12 years in prison.
