TBILISI, July 29 – The family of a popular Thai travel YouTuber has appealed for help after he disappeared during a solo trip to Georgia and has not been heard from for more than two weeks.
Hlun Solo, 26, travelled to Georgia alone to film travel content. His family last spoke to him on July 13 and has since been unable to reach him by phone or through online messaging channels, the Bangkok Post reported on Tuesday.
A Facebook user identified as Klose Mos, who said he is Hlun Solo’s brother, published an urgent missing-person appeal and asked people in Georgia to report any information about his whereabouts.
The family believes he may be in places popular with tourists and hikers, including Svaneti, Kazbegi or Mestia. The appeal particularly asked Thai nationals living in or travelling through Georgia to share the information and help generate leads.
Relatives have also contacted Thailand’s Department of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for assistance.
Hlun Solo has built a large audience by documenting his travels. He has around 2.5 million Facebook followers and 914,000 YouTube subscribers.
The travel creator grew up in Thailand’s Kalasin province and was raised by his grandmother after his father died. He later received a scholarship to study political science at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
After graduating, he chose travel as a career. His YouTube channel follows his backpacking trips in different countries and his efforts to save enough money to continue travelling.
Anyone with credible information about Hlun Solo’s whereabouts can contact Facebook user Klose Mos, who identified himself in the missing-person appeal as Hlun Solo’s brother.
