TBILISI, DFWatch–Heavy rain has hit the town Kobuleti on the Black Sea coast for the last two days. Three people were taken to sea by a big wave, and later rescued.
The storm on Wednesday lasted just three minutes. Big waves took three youngsters from the beach. 30 emergency crew were working for three hours and finally managed to save them.
Swimming is prohibited in Kobuleti today. Strong waves damaged several cafes which are located close to the beach.
Emergency service employees call on locals and others to avoid going into the water as long as the bad weather lasts and warn people to use caution.
Kobuleti was also damaged by a storm three months ago, and the repair work was still ongoing when today’s storm damaged the same place.
Rain and storm damaged first floors of about ten houses, a journalist for Interpressnews reported. The owners expect to get assistance from the government.
The local government has started estimating the extent of damage.
