TBILISI, DFWatch–The latest snowfall has made driving conditions so poor that the road from the winter resort Gudauri to the village Kobi has been closed for all traffic.
On other roads there are restrictions from some types of traffic.
Along the road section from Mtskheta close to the capital to Larsi, a border village with Russia, driving is prohibited for vehicles with more than 30 seats and for trailers, according to Georgia’s Environment Ministry.
To Gudauri, traffic is unrestricted until Zhinvali, in Dusheti municipality, but from Zhinvali to Gudauri, cars can only pass if they have snow chains.
Other roads in Georgia are safe for traffic.
The weather has so far had no consequences for domestic air travel, as no such flights are planned for Monday. But a flight from Amsterdam to Tbilisi which should have landed at 18:10 is canceled.
