TBILISI, DFWatch–One more former Georgian government official is to be appointed to a high position in the new Ukrainian government, a Ukrainian media outlet reports.
According to Unian.net, Gia Lortkipanidze may be appointed as head of the Interior Ministry Department in Odessa.
He was Deputy Interior Minister during the presidency of Mikheil Saakashvili in Georgia.
Odessa is the city where Saakashvili was recently appointed governor, after being granted Ukrainian citizenship.
Unian.net does’t name its source, but writes that the information comes from a law enforcement body in Odessa.
Over the last few days, there have been reports that Saakashvili’s former justice minister Zurab Adeishvili may become new chief prosecutor of Odessa, but the reports have not yet been officially confirmed.
Adeishvili is wanted in Georgia, and was subject to an Interpol red alert for a year, but recently the organization removed him from the list of wanted persons.
