TBILISI, DFWatch–South Ossetia has released Guram Gigineishvili, a Georgian who was detained five days ago in a village bordering on Russian-controlled territory.
Russian soldiers detained Guram Gigineishvili in the village Bershueti while he was working in a cornfield.
The de facto South Ossetian authorities brought him and his car to Tskhinvali. Gigineishvili declined to comment to the media.
The de facto authorities fined him 2 000 rubles – equivalent of USD 60 – and then released him.
Several Georgians are still in detention in Tskhinvali after having been detained on the so-called administrative border. Gigineishvili was detained July 10, 2013.
