TBILISI, DFWatch – Police in Georgia has arrested one member of the opposition Georgian Dream coalition after he hit a female employee of the local government in Gurjaani, a town in eastern Georgia which was hit by a storm.
Information Center Kakheti reports that Giorgi Natroshvili was arrested and taken to the local police station for questioning.
The leader of Georgian Dream today visited Gurjaani to meet with the local population. After the meeting there was a scuffle between supporters of Georgian Dream and Mako Chitinashvili, an employee of the local government.
She verbally attacked Bidzina Ivanishvili, and this caused dissatisfaction among his supporters, and then Giorgi Natroshvili hit her in the face.
Before the incident, people tried to explain to the woman that government representatives have not helped them sufficiently and told her about the problems they are having.
“It is not the right time for politics when we people are dying from hunger,” one of the locals told her.
Before the incident, IPN reported that one of the locals would not let Ivanishivli visit her house. A teacher of Georgian language said if she let Ivainshvili in, she might be fired.
“Please do not take pictures of me, I’ll be fired. They fired a teacher in Kalauri for supporting Ivanishvili,” she said.
