TBILISI, DFWatch – Georgian opposition billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili wants to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton who is to arrive here on June 5, as part of her tour of the South Caucasus.
The leader of the Georgian Dream coalition will ask the U.S. Embassy for a meeting with Clinton.
The U.S. Secretary of State will visit Batumi on the Black Sea and open a plenary session on the US-Georgia strategic partnership commission.
She will meet with the Georgian president and representatives of organizations, but no further details are available about the schedule of her visit.
Ivanishvili expressed a desire to meet with Clinton at a press conference on May 28.
“We will try to arrange a meeting with her. I know that her visit is short and I don’t know what are the plans exactly are and whether it will be possible or not, but we’ll try,” he said.
