TBILISI, DFWatch–Police in Georgia have detained a 45 year old woman who is suspected of making and selling pornographic photo and video material of her 11 year old daughter.

A 42 year old man was simultaneously detained in Israel, suspected of distributing the material on the Internet.

The Interior Ministry said Thursday investigation in the case started in February based on information provided by Interpol Georgia about illegally preparing pornographic photo and video of an eleven year old Georgian girl who was forced to take part in this for two years.

Her mother sold the footage to a man, who is a citizen of Israel, who posted them on the Internet making the material available for money all over the world.

“A lot of evidence was gathered regarding the case, which substantiated that the mother and the man were involved,” the statement reads, adding that a common operation was planned to simultaneously detain the mother and the man in both countries.

Both were detained April 8. Georgian police detained the mother, while the man, who has prior convictions of robbery and jailbreak, was detained in Israel.

The mother may be jailed from 8 to 12 years for underage trafficking. The child has been taken to a state shelter for victims of trafficking and is going through a rehabilitation course.
